When leading UK law firm Weightmans LLP sought to align its device procurement strategy with its sustainability ambitions, it turned to Right Digital Solutions (RDS) for support. As a responsible business committed to reducing environmental impact, Weightmans wanted to move away from the carbon cost of new equipment purchases – without compromising on performance, reliability or user experience.

The Summary
With over 1,200 employees, including 200+ partners, Weightmans recognised the vital role technology plays in its day-to-day operations. Like many forward-thinking organisations, the firm also understands that IT procurement carries significant weight in delivering environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies.
Traditional laptop manufacturing contributes heavily to carbon emissions, resource depletion and e-waste – escalating environmental concerns across the sector. In fact, it’s the reason why we, at RDS, developed our ReNu offering.
With sustainability embedded in its operational DNA, Weightmans sought a technology solution that could uphold efficiency and performance while aligning with its environmental commitments. Just as crucially, the firm needed to meet the rising sustainability expectations of clients, stakeholders and regulators.

The Solution
RDS assessed Weightmans’ IT estate and identified suitable devices for ReNu remanufacture. A batch of high-spec corporate laptops was selected and put through the ReNu process:
- Each unit was professionally remanufactured to strict quality standards.
- Devices were tested, upgraded and cosmetically restored.
- RDS provided warranty coverage and post-deployment support.
- Staff received devices that looked and functioned like new.
Importantly, the ReNu rollout allowed Weightmans to meet performance expectations while significantly lowering the environmental footprint of its device refresh cycle.
